Rome is preparing to become the scene of a prestigious international event: Pétanque’s World Championship, organized by the Italian Bocce Federation, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Sport, to the Lazio Region, to the city of Rome, and thanks to the FIB’s sponsor We Build, Macron, Allianz and Cogeca, and especially to the cooperation of Alma S.p.A and Trenitalia. The international kermesse that will take place in the Galoppatoio Area at Villa Borghese, evocative framework steeped in history, will begin Thursday 18 September with the initial ceremony and the initial qualifier phases and it will end with the award ceremony on Sunday 21 September.

At this international kermess Algeria, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, China, Congo, South Korea, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Wales, Germany, England, Iran, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Norway, New Zealand, Holland, Palau, Poland, Czech Republic, Scotland, Senegal, Slovakia, Spain, United States, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and Hungary will be the 51 Nations involved, whose athletes will compete in the Men's and Women's Individual, Men's and Women's Pairs and Mixed Pair of the most popular specialty in the world.

The Italian Delegation for “2025 Pétanque’s World Championship of Rome” will be composed by technical commissioners Mosé Nassa and Riccardo Capaccioni with the collaboration of deputies Laura Trova and Gianluca Rattenni, and the athletes Diego Rizzi, Alessio Cocciolo, Vanessa Romeo and Sara Ferrera for team n1 and Andrea Chiapello, Davide Laforé, Alessia Bottero and Sara Dedominici for team n2.

During the international kermesse, the area of the Galoppatoio will also host the national finals of the federal circuit of Beach Bocce 2025. The tricolor event will award three Italian titles in the specialty: individual, pair and mixed pair. At the starting line there will be 72 athletes, who won the regional stages: 24 individualists, 16 couples and 8 mixed couples. 

The national tour of Beach Bocce, organised by the Italian Bocce Federation, between July and August, involved numerous beaches throughout Italy. On the Italian beaches many people, more experienced or at first experience, young and old, women and men, during this summer, tried their hand at the beach specialty.

Rome Pétanque World Championship represents one of the major events on the 2025 Italian Bocce Federation’s calendar. It is a great honor to be able to host and organize an event of this scale, with the cooperation and support of the Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Environment and to the Lazio Region and the city of Rome once more, to which we send our gratitude. For four days Rome will become the Capital of Pétanque’s World Championship. It will fascinate and enchant the best players in the world from over 50 countries. Event that will also have an important impact in terms of media coverage. We will be the host nation and our athletes will play a leading role. “Italy will be represented by highly skilled players, both on the technical and human aspect, that will have the opportunity to play at home in one of the biggest events of their career” said the Federal President Roberto Favre.

PETANQUE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ON TV AND STREAMING - The fans will be able to stream the all event, free of all charges, even the training and award ceremonies. Thursday 18 September’s schedule: start of competitions and opening ceremony; Friday 19 September: qualifier competitions; Saturday 20 September round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals; Sunday 21 September: five finals and closing ceremony.

For the long-awaited event is expected a live stream on web-tv of the Italian Bocce Federation www.topbocce.live. Furthermore, a live broadcast on RaiPlay sport is scheduled for Sunday's finals.
